product launches...keep things simple

It's occurred to me with real clarity recently that the key thing on this subject is not to over complicate. Launch products with the minimum you need. Otherwise, you'll soon feel the strain. Work to the premise that nothing is ever finished so launching too soon shouldn't ever be an issue.

Carl,

Completely agree but would like to hear more. What do you think is the minimum you need for launching a major release of a product?

My thought here is that if you do have a story to tell with your release, there are certain activities you are going to want to do to make sure that the message gets out there. Thanks for sharing your thoughts,

Josh

Hi Josh,

Thanks for the comment!

In this case I was thinking that it's really important to decide what is core. Core features depend on the nature of the product obviously, but essentially just enough so that the thing works and is itself a statement of what users can expect/imagine seeing down the line. I guess I generally feel that if your product answers a 'need' the faster it is out there the better. A trap I still fall in to, and see others doing too, is being convinced a feature is core when it just isn't.

Best,
Carl
