Spot Testing Design - supplimenting Workshops.
So we went to Starbucks to test the three designs of evolution/punk/and mixture (most recent.) And, sorry, can't put the designs here yet - they're not public at the moment. It was useful and only cost price of a muffin or two. Also, see if you can spot the celebrity who endorsed our designs, Joel from Virgin Radio. (We had no idea who he was - doesn't bode well for him if we don't know him eh?)
We asked: General feedback on design, what it said about the brand, what they would score it out of 5.
Evolution: Dull, too busy. Too boring. 2/5.
Punk: Busy, took a while to work out what the sites was. Didn't really like it. 2.5/5.
Mixture (most recent): Light, sophisticated, professional, serious, contemporary, better organised. 4/5.

Evolution: Like Facebook, Don't get it, too much infor, reminds me of Money Supermarket type site. 2/5.
Punk: Clearer, more dramatic, like the boxing off, quite idiot proof, for the masses, could cheapen it and be a bit tacky. 4/5.
Mixture (most recent): Quite cluttered, busy, like the Goals bit at the bottom. 3/5.

Evolution: Like Facebook, complicated, lots of text 2.5/5.
Punk: Punchy, Like graphics at top, good impact. 4/5.
Mixture (most recent): More professional, older, dad would like it, looks like you have spent money on a PR compan, like the logo, like media guardian. 3.5/5.

Evolution: Looks samey, is it Amazon?, same as all sites on the internet. 3/5.
Punk: Stands out more, good impact (don't like balifs and debt on there.) 4/5.
Mixture (most recent): Stands out, preferred. 5/5.

Scores on the doors:
Evolution: 9.5/20
Punk: 14.5/20
Mixture (Current one) 15.5/20
General thoughts:
People like impact - makes it stand out
All are a bit cluttered
We are in right area with the current design - up to us whether we want to go after IMPACT or not.

So I make it 2-2 in the Punk-Mixture battle. Seems like the message is be brave and be bold - inspiring!
